The aim is to react on functional and operating needs of SVK in relation to cultural-historical values of NKP. We got the inspiration from the former purpose of the building. We designed some kind of „cage of knowledge“ – the reminiscence of prison cell – a space suitable for meditation and concentration – human knowledge in time continuity. „The cage“ is used according to particular levels – multifunctional hall, cafe, reading room and study room. The use of the basement seems suitable for the technical built up area. The core of the disposition is a staircase mirror which is light from the top. The „cage“ is linked by benches on the second floor and tube on “dufart” and second floor. It is indented from the ground as we wanted to gain the feeling of temporality and to differentiate from historical building – it is fully glassed and in the interior artistically expressed. The bearing system is from rolled profiles installed by bolting. Floors are particle boarded (OSB) fixed by bench screws. The aim is to create the atmosphere of prison minimalism. Artistic features are stairs and platforms. They are steel (galvanized steel). All elements are composed for both the interior and exterior.
